Duco Berns

Duco has been undertaking an internship at HSC since April 2026 as a Junior Adviser. He fulfils a supporting role in developing communication strategies and delivering media trainings. In addition, he follows current events closely for our clients and drafts press releases.

In January 2026 Duco completed his bachelor's degree in History at Leiden University, with economic history as specialisation. From September 2026 he will follow a transition minor Economics at the University of Amsterdam, after which he will start the master's degree Economics.

During his bachelor's degree he followed a minor in International Relations, where he developed an interest in media, image formation and the strategic use of language. In May 2025 he founded, together with five fellow students, the journalistic platform Van Leiden tot Later. This platform has the aim of strengthening the voice of students within the societal debate. During his internship he hopes to gain more insight into how language can be deployed as a communicative instrument to convey a message effectively.
